I have seen it both ways in my day. I’ve seen Postgres tables polluted and primarily made up of 20 different UUIDs. Blah. I’ve also seen supposed table counters in SQLServer counting up .. giving uniqueness … who’s context is quickly lost.
What to do? What are they good for? WHY ARE THEY EVERYWHERE???!!
Love em’ and hate em’. The good ole’ UUID. They ain’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Let’s explore their uses in the Data Engineering world.
